This was the original state when I took possession in 2021. It was a rusty mess with the action completely frozen. I sent this picture to a local antique firearms dealer and he told me it "was too far gone" and essentially said it could be a paperweight.
I made the decision to get it functioning or send it to the scrap pile. I used electrolysis to remove the rust. Cheap, easy, and very effective.
I was able to get it disassembled, cleaned further, and reassembled. The action was now functioning.
I bought a stock and a rear sight, which were the two major components missing. Yes, this is a rifle butt plate. I ended up swapping it for a stock with a carbine style butt plate.
I made the decision to get it re-blued and this is how she looks now.
